Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or signing in, you agree to these Terms.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe. You must be 13 or older to use BoardVerse.

Accounts are for human players. Do not use additional accounts to gain an advantage — arranging matches between accounts you control in order to move your rating, points or ranking is a breach of these Terms whether or not it is detected. Guest accounts become named accounts by signing in with Google or Apple; upgrading keeps the same account and the same history.

3. Acceptable use, and zero tolerance for objectionable content

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on BoardVerse. By using the app you agree not to post, send or display any of the following, anywhere a message or a name is visible to another player:

• Harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, or intimidation of any person.
• Hate speech, or content attacking or degrading anyone on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, age, or sexual orientation.
• Sexually explicit or pornographic content, and anything sexualising a minor.
• Violent, graphic, or gratuitously disturbing content.
• Content promoting self-harm, suicide, illegal activity, or the sale of regulated goods.
• Impersonation of another person, of BoardVerse staff, or of any organisation.
• Spam, scams, phishing, or the promotion of external services.

This applies to chat messages, usernames, profile text and avatar images alike.

What we do about it. Every chat message is filtered automatically before it is stored or delivered. Any player can report a message or a person from inside the app, and any player can block another, which hides that person's messages immediately and prevents the two being matched. We review every report and act within 24 hours — removing the offending content and suspending or permanently removing the account that posted it. Accounts removed for abuse are not restored, and we may remove content or an account without prior notice where the content is severe.

• Play fairly. Do not exploit bugs, use automated play, or modify the client.
• No off-topic content. Chat is for playing the games, not promoting external services or content.

You agree to these Terms when you create an account or sign in.

4. Virtual items

Points, achievements, and ranks have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts.

5. Termination

We may suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen; what that removes and what deliberately survives is set out in §6 of the Privacy Policy.

6. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" without warranty. We are not liable for lost points, ranks, or emotional distress from losing a blitz chess game.

7. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continuing to use the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
